The 2024 EduCanada Scholarship was established to provide students with short-term exchange opportunities to study or research in Canadian institutions. The scholarship is open for undergraduate and graduate programs.

Students attending post-secondary educational institutions can receive $12,700 through the Educanada Scholarship to help with living and tuition costs.

Successful post-secondary educational institutions in Canada will have the chance to expand and deepen their global connections while showcasing their academic and research prowess in these new markets.

Post-secondary educational institutions in Canada For 2024 EduCanada Scholarship

Institutions in Canada:

  • submit applications on behalf of qualified applicants; 
  • advertise this scholarship opportunity to their staff and faculty members and to partner universities in the qualified nations and territories;
  • order applications according to the strategic priorities of the organization;
  • designate one individual as the application submission coordinator;
  • submit both qualitative and quantitative reports throughout the scholarship period; 
  • execute a Contribution Agreement with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD); 
  • award scholarship funds to selected candidates.

Candidates for 2024 EduCanada Scholarship

Applicants who would like to apply for this scholarship program should:

  • notify their home institution of their interest; 
  • ascertain whether a collaboration or exchange agreement exists between their home institution and a Canadian institution; 
  • inquire about the application procedure and selection standards unique to the Canadian partner institution from their home institution, and confirm that they are eligible.

Qualifications for the EduCanada Scholarship

  • Applicants must be nationals of one of the following accepted nations or regions: Southeast Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan; Southeast and Central Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia; Southeast and Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda; and enrolled as a full-time student at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country or territory, paying tuition fees to that institution at the time of application and for the duration of the exchange.
  • Applicants are ineligible if they are currently enrolled in a government-funded scholarship program. 
  • If they hold or have pending applications for permanent residence or citizenship in Canada,
  • If they are currently registered in a Canadian post-secondary institution’s degree, diploma, or certificate program.

Advantages of the 2024 EduCanada Scholarship 

Scholarship values change based on length of study and academic level.

  • CAD 12,700 for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a duration of five to six months of study or research; CAD 10,200 for college, undergraduate, or graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a minimum of four months or one academic term.
  • Canadian host institutions will receive CAD 500 per scholarship recipient in addition to the funds given to the recipients by DFATD to help with administrative expenses once the recipient arrives in Canada.

Allowed Expenses

The Following Purposes Should Get Scholarship Funds:

  • Fees for a study or work permit; 
  • health insurance; 
  • ground transportation, including a public transportation pass; 
  • books and supplies needed for the recipient’s study or research, excluding computers and other equipment; 
  • Visa or Study/Work Permit fees; 
  • and airfare for the scholarship recipient only via the most direct and cost-effective route.

The EduCanada Scholarship’s selection criteria

The following standards will be used to evaluate applications that are both complete and eligible:

the research or study’s merit, the benefits to the home institution and peers, the Canadian institution, the supervisor, and the peers, the strength of the connections that will be made through the proposed exchange, and the rankings provided by the Canadian institution.

Note: Candidates who have never won a scholarship through the Study in Canada Scholarships program will be given priority.

Method of Application

The Canadian institution submits applications for the Study in Canada Scholarship on behalf of candidates.

Before starting the online application, Canadian institutions are urged to carefully read the instructions.


Guidelines for Canadian establishments 2024 EduCanada Scholarship

If an institution experiences difficulties completing or submitting the form, they should contact [email protected].

Institutions in Canada need to:

  • Fill out an online application for every applicant.
  • Institutions that do not currently have an account must first create one.
  • The school should choose the Study in Canada Scholarships program in the “For Non-Canadians” section and click “Apply Now” after logging into their account.
  • Institutions can save applications and finish them at a later time. Applications that have been submitted and saved will both show up on the institution’s profile page.
  • Compile the information in the required fields and adhere to each item’s instructions.
  • The candidate’s name must correspond with the one on their passport.
  • The candidate’s home institution’s official name must be stated in the language spoken there.
  • Upload every document that is needed.
  • Check the information before submitting.
  • Press the SUBMIT button. After the form is submitted, the institution will receive a confirmation message along with a reference number.
  • Using the browser’s print function, print the form for their records.


The deadline is March 19th, 2024.
